Othaya MP Supports Gen-Z’s Demand For Public Resources Accountability

Othaya constituency Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina alias MountKenya has supported the Generation-Z demand for accountability of public resources.
Wainaina says those mandated to run and manage public resources must at all times be ready to account for their actions.
“Our country will never be the same again. I am happy with what Generation-Z are doing. Let us all make sure we can account for the public resources that we have been given from the public coffers,” the MP said when he met dozens of the young people during a talent show held on Saturday in Othaya town.
He said he has since he was elected Othaya MP been keen on how NG-CDF funds for his constituency are spent and would not allow officers to misuse such funds.
He, at the same time, vowed to empower local youths by supporting their initiatives.
The MP noted that the youth who are the majority in the country have recently changed the way things in the country are done by airing their issues peacefully though people with ill motives hijacked their protests.
“We respect you a lot. You have changed this country forever. You have challenged this country’s leadership and they have heard you. This country will never be the same again. You have done us proud,” said the MP.
While Gen-Z’s in other areas are said to be chasing their MPs, the Othaya was successfully able to convene a meeting with them where they discussed matters to do with uplifting their standards of living.
“We shall tap talents and support all those with talents as we have done before. We have supported those in the sports and music industry. This will not be the end,” he added.
He spoke as Othaya All Stars Football club was enjoying a vacation in coastal region, which he sponsored after the team emerged third during a mountain region tournament.
The legislator added that there are many ways youths can earn income including those working on social media, where they can monetize their work and earn money at the comfort of their homes.
Others have started income generating projects through groups like starting cottage industries of making mesh wire.
The MP disclosed that he will also ensure that there is an IT hub in all the four wards in his constituency through the Ajira Programme.
“I have been supporting you using bursary funds and even from my own pocket. I will continue doing so. Let us join hands and work together. I want to ensure that every youth pursues his or her dreams to the end,” he added.
The MP also pledged to engage the youth in the near future using different forums in different categories.
Wambugu Wainaina Foundation was one of the sponsors of the Talent Show.
