Pastor Dorcas Rigathi Expresses Concern Over Cases Of Depression In Schools

The Spouse of Deputy President Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has expressed concern over increased cases of depression and frustrations among students in schools. Speaking when she spoke to students of Kisii High School in Kisii Pastor Dorcas said the cases are more prevalent among those who have already indulged in drugs and substance abuse in schools.
She said it is for this reason that she has been visiting schools to talk to the students as a way of encouraging and mentoring them in their day to day lives.
“I cannot relent in speaking to our children especially the boys, because in many cases of depression, cases of suicide many of the victims are our boys,“ she said.
“Sometimes we as parents think that these children do not listen. When I talk to them in schools, I see some even crying and that tells me they are listening. That is why we want to speak to them, to inspire them and to encourage them to give them hope for their future in this country and even beyond,” she added.
Today, Pastor Dorcas is expected to address students of St. Joseph High School in Kehancha Migori County.
Last week, she spoke to students of Kangaru High School and University of Embu in Embu County.
Other institutions of higher learning she has visited include the University of Nairobi, Daystar University, Masai Mara University in Narok County, Karatina University, Technical University of Mombasa, Chuka University in Tharaka Nithi County, SOT Technical Institute in Bomet among others.
She has also been in secondary schools among them Alliance Girls High School, Dagoretti Boys High School, Mutuini High School in Dagoretti, Tudor Boys High School in Mombasa, Narok Boys High School among others.
She also has been visiting prisons to talk to the inmates. Today, she is also set to lead the inmates of Kendege Prison in a tree-planting exercise.
