PEMBE FLOUR MILLS LTD INSPIRES YOUTHS, PROMOTES PEACE AND GIVES BACK TO COMMUNITY THROUGH FOOTBALL

In the recent, one of a kind, football tournament held on Saturday (6thMay) and Sunday ( 7th May),at De Paul Centre, Karen Nairobi, organised and sponsored by Pembe Floor Mills Ltd; youths in football got to showcase their talent, with the winner getting a cash award of Kshs 100,000, and the 1st Runner up getting Kshs 50,000, while the 2nd  Runner up getting Kshs 25,000. On top of these, there were plenty if goodies from the renowned company; with each team that participated getting at least a bundle of PEMBE Unga.

Director Sir. Ahmed Salim of Pembe Flour Ltd, categorically stated that this was just the beginning, as the company plans to promote peace, local talent, and engage youths in productive activities; such as football. There were Guest of Honors invited to the event, amongst them, PS in the Ministry of Health, Transport, amongst other dignitaries.

Also renowned businessmen were in attendance, such as SamWest Distributors Ltd Director Sir. Sam Njuguna who is amongst the major distributors of PEMBE Ltd products. He also sponsors sports, and has a football team known as SamWest BlackBoots F.C,  featuring in the FKF( Football Kenya Federation) Division 2, Eastern Zone. Pembe Ltd also communicated their plans to follow such a path, and form or sponsor a formidable team to be known as PEMBE F.C

Other teams that featured in the event were Bomas of Kenya( in FKF Div 2), Nation Media F.C, Karen F.C, Wazoefu F.C, Pirate Boys F.C and many others; gathering as many youths in Kenyan communities, making a total of 32 teams that participated in the tourney. The tournament was exhilarating from the word go, with teams giving their best to reach the finals.

The Finals were played on Sunday, 7th May 2023, with the finalist being Pirates Boys F.C and SamWest BlackBoots F.C, with Pirate boys F.C emerging as the winner from a superb strike from the player known as Rashid, thus, match ending 1 – 0 at final whistle. Pirate Boys were crowned as the PEMBE CUP 2023 CHAMPIONS amid jubilations, and SamWest BlackBoots F.C getting the 1st Runner up position, while Bomas of Kenya F.C getting the 2nd Runner up position.

Pundits and stakeholders agreed and said, that this was a successful event, and highly commended PEMBE FLOUR MILLS LTD and Director Ahmed Salim, for being in the frontline in promoting the peace Agenda, as well as the Talent/ Youths promotion Agenda.
