Poem On The Year That I Lost It All

Cathren Gathoni

Verse 1

It’s December 25th again, the lights are glowing bright,

But my heart feels heavy, no joy in sight.

This year has been a battle, I’ve lost it all,

Friends, my home, my dreams—they’ve taken the fall.

Pre-Chorus

The carols play, but they don’t reach me,

Memories of better days, haunting like a melody.

Chorus

Oh, it’s Christmas, but my heart’s still breaking,

This year’s been cruel, so much it’s taken.

But I’m here, though torn apart,

Thankful to God for my beating heart.

Verse 2

The tree’s adorned, but it feels so bare,

Gifts of silence, no love to share.

The nights are colder, the stars seem dim,

I’m holding on, though the chances are slim.

Pre-Chorus

The world keeps moving, but I stand still,

Fighting to find the strength, the will.

Chorus

Oh, it’s Christmas, but my heart’s still breaking,

This year’s been cruel, so much it’s taken.

But I’m here, though torn apart,

Thankful to God for my beating heart.

Bridge

Through the pain, I’ve learned to see,

What’s left is still a part of me.

The tears may fall, the wounds may sting,

But I’ll rise again and find my wings.

Chorus

Oh, it’s Christmas, but my heart’s still breaking,

This year’s been cruel, so much it’s taken.

But I’m here, though torn apart,

Thankful to God for my beating heart.

Outro

It’s December 25th again, and I’m still here,

Carrying my hope into another year.

With faith in my soul and scars that heal,

I’ll find my peace; I’ll start to feel.
