Police in Kisii County have intercepted election materials in the outskirts of Kisii town and arrested four suspects,
Kisii County Commander Dr Musyoki Mutungi said the suspects were ferrying the materials to an unknown destination.
Dr Mutungi said that they conducted the operation with officers from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Speaking to the Press in his office Mutungi said police are investigating the incidents and the suspects will be taken to court once the probe is complete.
He further said that they have impounded the vehicle.
“We do not have major of such incidents,” he said.
He applauded the residents for maintaining peace and called for the calmness.
He said security officers had been deployed across the county, the election was conducted peacefully, saying the exercise was smooth.
Meanwhile, Nyaribari Chache constituency Returning Officer, Mark Manco has urged candidates and their supporters to be patient as election officers finalize tallying and announce the results.
