Positive Social Transformation The Key Driver In Wambugu’s Development Agenda

Many legislators in the August House execute their constitutionally stipulated duties under the pillars of representation, oversight and legislation. But for one leader, Wambugu Wainaina popularly known as Mount Kenya, Member of Parliament for Othaya, he goes beyond the call of duty to see to it that the welfare of his constituents is always on the front.
A political student of the late President Mwai Kibaki, the third President of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Wambugu believes that actions should always speak the loudest. He is a man of very few words and his development projects speak for themselves.
Key among his priority agenda is education. He believes Education is the greatest equalizer, and he has demonstrated unwavering commitment to transforming the education sector in Othaya.
Through prudent utilization of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) the legislator has been giving learning institutions – primary and secondary a facelift. Some of the schools that set a perfect example include Gatugi Primary School, St. Gregory Karima Mixed Secondary, Kairia Primary, Munaini Primary, Wagura School Primary and JSS just to mention but a few.
To bolster the learning environment he has facelifted the school’s infrastructure by tiling them, building new classrooms, administration blocks, renovation of existing classrooms, upscaling sanitation facilities and so on.
Mr. Mt. Kenya has time and again urged his community to fully embrace education as the foundation for a brighter future.
“True transformation starts with education. Through community involvement and partnerships with schools, we can uplift society and unlock endless opportunities for our people.
One thing that makes his passion for education stand out is offloading the heavy burden of school fees from parents’ shoulders. Parents are now paying Ksh. 1,000 per term for secondary school, whilst the NG-CDF whose patron is the MP is injecting Ksh 8,000 per student, making education accessible and affordable for all.
That’s not all. When we turn an interesting side to Mr. Wambugu’s philanthropic and compassionate heart, he has been spearheading positive societal transformation by building decent houses for those underprivileged constituents. A spot check revealed the reality on the ground where the beneficiaries of the decent houses narrated their joy, all crediting Mr. Wambugu for his kindness. One resident, Mr. Samuel Kariuki of Ihugo-Gura, could not hide his joy when he showed the house Mr. Wambugu built for him, taking him from another level and dignifying his life. Mr. Kariuki used to live with his mother in a dilapidated house but he can now enjoy a smile of living in a new house. His story is an example of many other success stories.
Mr. Wambugu Wainaina is also focused on uplifting road infrastructure chief among them the recarpeting of Rukira – Thuti road, among many others.
