Worth Noting:
- The President is a champion of conceiving and rolling out activities aimed at mitigating the devastating effects of climate change.
- Planting of the trees with a view to increasing forest cover by 30 percent is one of the key interventions.
- In his speech, President Ruto told the newly recruited officers to live up to their oath of duty.
- While noting that his campaign of rallying Kenyans to plant trees has been bearing the fruits, he noted: Kenyans expect to see you protecting these trees in order to achieve their target of planting 15 billion trees.
- Notably, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release energy which is good for health of human beings.
President William Ruto yesterday presided over the passing out parade for Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
This once again demonstrated his commitment to the pledge of ensuring 15 billion trees are planted by the year 2032.
As we know, the forest rangers play a pivotal role in protecting the forests from being destroyed by illegal loggers.

Carbon dioxide is harmful and it is a leading polluter of the environment.
For starters, carbon is therefore one of the leading causes of climate change.
President Ruto is not only being celebrated here in Kenya for his remarkable efforts in mitigation but also in the whole world.
His rising star went a notch higher when he convened Africa Climate Change Conference in Nairobi.
After the conclusion of the deliberations, the African heads of state and government, environmentalists and scholars came up with a Nairobi declaration.
The blueprint which underlined a raft of interventions aimed at reversing the deadly effects of climate change to humankind was unanimously adopted as an Africa position.
It was presented in the subsequent meeting of World Conference of State Parties (COP27) on Climate change.
Having been chosen to present the resolutions, President minced no word in articulating the voice of Africa.
Despite contributing very little to the pollution of climate, Africa plays a key role in mitigation. You, the powerful nations, have not been appreciating our efforts.
You have in the past made several pledges to financially support us. You are yet to keep your promise and this is despite the fact you are leading polluters, President Ruto reiterated at COP27 conference.
Back to passing out parade, Dr Ruto called on new KFS recruits to support his efforts of greening Kenya. This will help in a big to mitigate the effect of climate change. The salaries and allowances paid to these officers were drawn from public coffers. Kenyans want to see the value of their monies.
