Equality Equity

Treating everyone equally means ignoring their differences, elevating the less skillful and suppressing those who excel. Social equity can be defined as the quality of being fair or impartial. It takes into account the systematic inequalities.
Social equality is a state of affair in which all individuals within a specific society have equal rights, liberties, and status, possibly including civil rights, freedom of expression, autonomy, and equal access to certain public goods and social services.
In the last quarter of 2021, we have seen some of Kenyan secondary schools damaging school properties as they went on strike. This is quiet worrying as one is left to wonder why should they damage their parents or public property. Learning started early in the year as they needed to compensate for time lost in year 2020 after the outbreak of covid-19 global pandemic which necessitated closure of all schools to minimize its spread.
Owing to the damages, the students cause during the strikes while being called back to resume to their studies they are supposed to pay for renovation of the damaged properties. Assessment of properties destroyed is done and the amount distributed equally among the students. This is an example of social equality being applied.
Every student has to pay on or before the reporting date what disturbs a lot is whether the school management assumes that all the students in the school jointly agreed to damage school property. Had social equity policy been applied they could have sought to know who destroyed what and the value he or she is supposed to compensate the school while those who did not participate in damage of property should not be charged.

Just by mere look at people they are not of the same size whether weight or lightness, fatness or thinness, tallness or shortness, skin colour, way of talking, date and hour of birth. Trying to say despite all these differences all people are equal would be unfair by all standards.
When we compare men, you will find numerous differences among them so we can confidently say that all men are not equal same happens with women.
No two people can be said to be exactly the same even identical twins have some differences. These differences among people are the one that the governments use to identify people.
When we accept our various differences and at the same time try to promote fairness among people we advocate for equity.
When we assume that we are all equal we form wrong basis and any projection that will be emanate from such a foundation will be bound to collapse.
We need to identify everyone according to own characteristics know the strengths and promote them. This will help them enjoy more creativity. Unhealthy competition will be eliminated as people will not be required to copy paste, everyone will recognize his or her own talent and seek to develop it.
While at family level if everyone is assumed to be like the other it would be tough if you equate a kid to her dad. Should you offer to her the fatherly roles it will be difficult for her to execute. If on the other hand the father after being termed as equal to child and offered her roles it will look awkward. To maintain natural order everyone should be offered a role equivalent to his or her own abilities.
One of the factors that dissuaded communism to be dominant in many nations is that notion of equally dividing national product among all people. The hardworking ones felt that they were being overburdened at the expense of the lazy ones instead capitalism economic model which promoted private ownership of factors of production, the smarter you worked the higher the returns.
Recognition of natural individual differences and appreciation of personal efforts encourages everyone to work smart, become creative and feel that he or she has received returns equal to resources applied.
