The Principal Secretary for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Geoffrey Kaituko, convened a strategic meeting with the Board of Directors of Bandari Maritime Academy to discuss critical issues aimed at improving service delivery at the premier maritime training institute.
During the meeting, key focus areas were identified to strengthen the academy’s operational efficiency and align its training programs with global maritime industry standards. The discussions centered on enhancing the quality of education, modernizing facilities, and expanding opportunities for cadets to gain international exposure and experience.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the announcement that 140 cadets from the academy are set to onboard Singaporean vessels this year. This milestone underscores the academy’s commitment to equipping its graduates with practical, hands-on experience that aligns with international maritime standards. It also reflects the strong partnerships Bandari Maritime Academy has cultivated with global industry players, providing its cadets with invaluable opportunities to advance their careers.
PS Kaituko commended the academy’s efforts in preparing Kenyan youth for the competitive global maritime sector. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that elevate Bandari Maritime Academy’s profile as a center of excellence in maritime education and training.
