The Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, has advanced Cybersecurity agenda at the Cyber week Africa conference and Expo 2024. The event, held at the University of Nairobi, brought together key industry stakeholders to advance critical discussions around the future of cybersecurity.
The week-long forum, themed “Cybersecurity Industry Workforce,” aims to enhance collaboration, capacity building, and innovation in the cybersecurity sector. PS Omollo emphasized the importance of aligning cybersecurity with the government’s digital transformation agenda, highlighting the need for robust security frameworks as Kenya and other African nations advance into the digital economy.

In his address, he acknowledged the fast-evolving nature of cyber threats, noting that national security increasingly depends on safeguarding digital infrastructure. He called on stakeholders to work together to build a resilient cybersecurity workforce, capable of mitigating emerging risks while driving innovation.
“This conference is pivotal in addressing the human capital gap within the cybersecurity industry. It is through collaboration and concerted efforts that we can strengthen our defenses and protect the integrity of our digital ecosystem.” Omollo stated.
The CyberWeek Africa Conference and Expo 2024 serves as a platform for government officials, industry experts, academia, and innovators to exchange ideas, share insights, and develop strategies for boosting cybersecurity across Africa. The event supports the Kenyan government’s broader digital transformation goals, promoting the secure integration of technology into key sectors such as finance, health, and governance.
Participants engaged in discussions on topics ranging from emerging threats, digital policy, and the future of cybersecurity education, as the forum seeks to bolster Africa’s standing in global cybersecurity innovation and workforce readiness.
