Residents of Meru County have been urged to turn up in large numbers to receive Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) national officials in the area.
The party county leaders and aspirants have welcomed the visit by the party officials, led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition leaders.
Gachagua and his team are is set to tour the county from today upto Sunday to sell his political agenda in an effort to woo Meru residents.
He is expected to be accompanied by among others, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa and DP party leader Justin Muturi.
The leaders led by Meru senatorial aspirant 2027 Timothy Kithinji who is also the DCP County chairman said they want Meru to turn out in large numbers and welcome the leaders.
“We welcome our party leader in the county. We want to show that Meru is not a monopoly. We have different views on everything and even party ideologies and those who think the opposition should not visit Meru should be ashamed of themselves,” Kithinji said, whe they addressed journalists yesterday.
“Meru, like the rest of Kenya, is not happy with the deductions in the payslips; they are tired of corruption and empty rhetoric,” Kithinji said.
Kithinji said the Kenya Kwanza government does not have even a single flagship project across the country.
“The housing project will not help Kenyans but them individually as they have prioritised business ahead of serving the people,” Kithinji said
He added Meru’s are tired of President William Ruto’s administration.
Stephen Muriungi Buuri MP seat aspirant said that the legislators supporting Ruto’s government will surely go home together with him.
“We have heard that people have been mobilised to get goons to disrupt our meeting but let the planners know that Meru is in DCP,” Muriungi said.
Peter Mutuma popularly as Kalembe said Meru is with the people’s Deputy President Gachagua.
Kalembe said President Ruto’s government has a bad name with the recent abductions, killings, rampant corruption and poor economy.
