The bodaboda sector has evolved into a stable source of livelihood for many homesteads dating back from the era of bicycles to now a fleet of motorcycles buzzing around cities and their outskirts down to the countryside. Many depend on this carrier method especially for short distance errands that call for a more of quick stop activities at a safer cost. The bodaboda sector has thus developed into a reliable source of transport rooting itself as one of the most reliable source of transport until during the most recent incident that has greatly tarnished the bodaboda sectors’ reputation insinuating the operators as hooligans with little to no morals when it comes to matters concerning their interaction with the publics, who worse still are their target customers.
Prior to the incident involving a lady being sexually assaulted by a group of motorists, the government has set up straight measures involving thorough validation of the motorists’ licenses with a crackdown on rogue motorists. This has been met with lamentations from motorists around the country as they direct their fingers to police brutality, stating how the police are raiding their source of livelihood confiscating their bikes however clean they are with their documents comparing their misfortunes to the whole class being punished courtesy of two loud sinners.
Although some bodaboda riders have taken the initiative to put on reflector jackets with “we are sorry” messages, neutrals argue there is so much to be done. A section of the riders being rotten has as well painted a grotesque picture of the sector. The ethical group of riders ought to maintain their positive nature and take into their own stride to flash out the rogue group to help clean the bodaboda sector. They should help restore the glorious image of bodaboda riders opposite from the disappointments we are witnessing today.
