Youths should be more open minded to the Jab

By Joena Muriithi

The fear of vaccination amongst the youth and elderly in our nation is attributed to lack of confidence in the manufacturers, complacency, lack of trust in the government and conspiracy theories made mostly by youths.

For one reason or the other, a number of the young people are under the impression that the government is out to get them, this being the case in other countries around the world as well.

The leaders of tomorrow, comrades refuse to trust COVID-19 jabs due to concerns about the long-term effects, with many citing population control schemes.

Vaccine misinformation has been fueled on social media by fake information, consequently instilling fear and in the process defaming the government which has made efforts to fight the pandemic.

Let’s take into account the great deal of resources used by the government to secure vaccines and provide information across every platform.

If the government wanted to cause harm to its people then vaccines administered at childbirth and throughout infancy would not exist.

Vaccines have proven to be an effective way of controlling diseases and infections from childbirth and COVID vaccines are no different.

Before discrediting the vaccine youths should remember the aftermath that Covid infections leave even after recovery. You might survive the virus but long-term complications will remain a challenge.

Nevertheless, the government should still target vaccination for as many people as possible because if a large population is vaccinated, the risk of infection will be reduced to levels that allow for the the continuity of activities like before.

Eventually Kenyans will be open minded about COVID-19 vaccination.
