Nyamira county governor Amos Nyaribo has sends all county revenue officers, their supervisors and enforcement officers in in the department on a one month compulsory leave due to increased loss of revenue.
It is said that the county government on average it collects 200 million but the revenue is expected to 8000 million.
Temporary team has been appointed to take over who have been trained on how to use automated machines.
Speaking with the press in the boardroom, governor said that the revenue collection has been ending up in the people’s pocket.
He said that the country government has tried to shift to automated revenue collection, but still the collection is too low.
The governor alluded that the officers have been enriching themselves while the tax payers are suffering in their hands.
“We have done through investigation, reaching out on this decision, indeed it is a wise decision, we have gathered enough evidence to let the officers go home, “he said.
Mr Nyaribo directed the officers to return the government property e.g automated machines and uniforms they have been using.
He noted that the amount they have been sending to the county is less than the one they have been pocketing, making the county to be ranked the worst in terms of revenue collection.
On the same note, the governor has directed members of the county executive committee and other senior officials who are operating from other counties to immediately relocate to the county within one week failure to that they will be sacked.
At the same time he asked police officers to impound county government vehicles which are being used in unofficial functions.
According to the governor, he has received information from the public that the officers who are operating outside the county are misusing the vehicles to and from their homes.
He warned them and asked them to adhere to the instructions failure to it, they will face the consequences.
