The Railway Training Institute (RTI) marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of its 61st graduation ceremony at its Main Campus in Nairobi. The event celebrated the academic achievements of a new cohort of graduates who are now poised to contribute to the growing railway sector in Kenya and beyond.
In his address, Chief Guest at the ceremony Mr. Mohamed Daghar, Principal Secretary, State Department for Transport, commended the graduates for their dedication and hard work. He highlighted the critical role of the railway sector in Kenya’s infrastructure development and economic growth, urging the graduates to leverage their skills in transforming the country’s transportation system.
“Your graduation today comes at a time when Kenya’s railway sector is undergoing a tremendous transformation. You are now equipped with the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to this transformation.” PS Daghar said.
In attendance were notable figures in Kenya’s railway industry, including Kenya Railways Chairman, Abdi Duale, and Managing Director, Philip Mainga ,The Chairman of the RTI Board of Governors, alongside the RTI and Kenya Railways senior management team, who congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the importance of a well-trained workforce in the railway sector.
Addressing the graduants, Abdi Duale expressed his pride in the graduates’ accomplishments and encouraged them to remain at the forefront of innovation and safety in the railway industry.
“The railway sector continues to grow and evolve, and you, as new professionals, have the responsibility to uphold the highest standards in safety, operations, and customer service.” He remarked.
Philip Mainga, Managing Director of Kenya Railways, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the pivotal role of education and training in enhancing operational excellence within the sector. He highlighted ongoing efforts by Kenya Railways to invest in the professional development of its workforce, noting that RTI has been instrumental in preparing skilled personnel to meet the sector’s demands.
The ceremony saw the awarding of diplomas and certificates to graduates who had completed various courses in railway operations, engineering, and management. RTI’s comprehensive training programs are designed to ensure that the graduates are equipped with the technical expertise and leadership skills required to address the challenges of modern railway systems.
Chairman of the RTI Board of Governors expressed gratitude to the government, Kenya Railways, and other stakeholders for their continued support of the institute’s mission to produce highly qualified professionals for the railway sector.
The 61st graduation ceremony at RTI underscores the institution’s ongoing commitment to excellence in training, ensuring that the railway industry continues to thrive with skilled personnel capable of driving the sector’s growth and modernization.
