Safaricom has celebrated the first winner of its ‘Wai Ndai’ Challenge by handing over a brand-new Suzuki Alto to 34-year-old John Maina, a resident of Naivasha, Nakuru County. Maina emerged as the first monthly winner of the online gaming challenge, which has attracted thousands of participants competing in puzzles, arcades, and action games for daily cash prizes and the grand prize of a Suzuki Alto.
Speaking after receiving his car, Maina expressed his excitement and gratitude, thanking Safaricom for making him a new car owner.
“I am thrilled to have won this challenge and I thank Safaricom for organizing such an exciting competition. This car will greatly assist with my movements, especially for my business, and it comes at a time when things are tough economically.” He said.
The ‘Wai Ndai’ Challenge, which is set to run until February 18, 2025, has already attracted over 200,000 participants nationwide. Through the challenge, Safaricom aims to offer an engaging gaming experience while rewarding participants with exciting prizes.
Fawzia Ali, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, shared that the initiative was designed to resonate with young customers, providing both entertainment and the opportunity to win big.
“Through the ‘Wai Ndai’ Challenge, our aim is to deliver an engaging gaming proposition that resonates with our youth customers, all while keeping them entertained on the go and offering them opportunities to win exciting rewards.” Remarked Ali.
The challenge gives participants the chance to win a second Suzuki Alto or daily prizes of KES 3,000, KES 2,000, and KES 1,000 vouchers. To take part, users can sign up through the MySafaricom app or use the USSD codes *555# and *499#, with daily participation starting at ksh10.
The ‘Wai Ndai’ Challenge is part of Safaricom’s broader youth empowerment initiative, ‘Safaricom Hook’, which seeks to leverage technology to support the passions and interests of young people, including gaming, under its Culture Hook.
With the competition running until February, there is still plenty of time for more players to join in and stand a chance of winning the remaining car or daily prizes.
