- Those are just few of my achievement despite having sickle cell disease. I want to encourage my other friends all over the world not to give up despite the pains and struggle we can make it in life no one should discourage you that you will not make it only God knows our fate and He is the final say.
- As Sickle cell patient let’s get out in boldness and accept our status this is the only way we can fight and achieve great things. I will also urge the government of Kenya through the Ministry of health to provide us with free drugs we will be very happy as people living with sickle cell disease because as we know our drugs are very expensive.
In life things happen and you can’t change as it is said that everything that happens has purpose and sometimes it’s will of God .Also sometimes it’s a lesson learned.
Every year in the Calendar date 19 June we celebrate World Sickle cell Day, this is day is meant to create awareness to the society and also celebrate our brothers and sisters who have been affected with the disease. It’s also like their birthday.
My take today because I am a sickle cell warrior I will be talking about a theme, BEAUTY OF ACCEPTANCE.
Being born with sickle disease is very unfortunate in the society today despite we are in the 21st Century some people still take Sickle cell as a witchcraft or a curse which is a myths. Sickle is just brought by blood genetic disorder, which makes our red blood cells to be crescent shape.
But Sickle cell disease is like a beauty of acceptance, most of the patient who accept their condition all over the world they are living very wonderful and happy life. Despite people’s usually have the mind that the affected people die before reaching the age of 18years and they are not able to have their education this is a myth. Sickle cell patient tend to do well in their academics in various levels which sometimes impress a lot of people despite the struggle of pains. I will for example myself, When I was in primary level after doing my Kenya Certificate Of Primary Education ( K.C.P.E) I was able to attain 318 Marks, After that joined a Day School near our home because of the frequent pains my parents never allowed me to go far away from them , I did my best and in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) and attain a C+ grade after that I applied for university Luckily I was called to RONGO UNIVERSITY now pursuing Bachelor of Science Degree Communication and Journalism which was my dream job currently I am a 3rd Year student.
I have written a lot of articles and stories in mainstream daily newspapers and also beside that I am a head of a YouTube channel that I started known as MAIN PLUG TV.
Those are just few of my achievement despite having sickle cell disease. On the other hand as we celebrate this year WORLD SICKLE DAY I will urge our sisters and brothers outside there all over the world to come out in large numbers to Screen and Care for Sickle cell disease so that they can know their health status.
As I finish let’s love, care and protect the entire Sickle cell patient outside there around the world.
