Teso South Member of Parliament Mary Emaase has reaffirmed her unwavering support for grassroots transformation through the Inua Mama Initiative, a national platform dedicated to uplifting women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Speaking during a vibrant gathering at Kambi Samaki in Lake Baringo, where over 20 Women Members of Parliament convened, Hon Mary Emaase emphasized the importance of investing in the social and economic strength of local communities as a pillar of sustainable development.
The lawmaker lauded the ongoing efforts of Inua Mama, terming the initiative a game changer in addressing inequality and giving marginalized groups the tools they need to thrive. She highlighted that true development cannot be achieved unless the women and youth at the grassroots level are equipped with the skills, resources, and opportunities to take charge of their futures.
Empowerment at the grassroots builds resilience and self-reliance. When women and young people are given the tools to succeed, they not only improve their livelihoods but also uplift entire communities. It is a foundation for national prosperity, said Hon Emaase.
She noted that economic empowerment goes hand in hand with social inclusion, stressing that the initiative’s deliberate focus on persons with disabilities is timely and necessary. Emaase praised the unity demonstrated by the participating MPs and reaffirmed her intention to replicate the model in her own constituency.
The MP also revealed plans to roll out the Teso South Chapter of the Inua Mama Initiative in the coming months. The localized program will be tailored to address the specific realities of the community, with targeted interventions in business training, access to capital, mentorship, and support services for vulnerable groups.
Hon Mary Emaase’s active involvement in such national conversations reflects her broader commitment to inclusive development and progressive representation. Her continued advocacy for grassroots engagement places her among a growing group of leaders championing people-centered governance across the country.
As the Inua Mama Initiative gains momentum, more regions are expected to adopt the model, bringing services, empowerment, and hope closer to those who need it most.
