The country has really put up in place different measures in order to combat the spread of corona virus in the country. Taking jab being one of measures. The country had a goal to vaccinate about 10 million but unfortunately that the country has not managed even half of the target.
This is a particular tricky challenge for those trying to combat vaccine hesitancy, especially as demand for first doses in the country appears worrying. The uptake of the second dose among those who received the first dose is at 50.7 per cent, while the proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 8 per cent despite the government’s ambitious target of having 10 million people fully vaccinated by Christmas.
Educational level has proven to be a significant factor in people’s view about the vaccine efficiency. This is because everyone has their own ideas about this covid-19 jab.
The recent research averagely Kenyan adults with at least a bachelor of degree view the vaccine as safe and effective than those with no education whom are still in the darkness about the jab. Such people who are liberated enough are able to do research and come up with better results about the jab hence they are willing to take the jab. But the worrying situation is another population with no education. This situation makes them opt out in taking the jab.
So far Nairobi, which leads in the share of number of people fully vaccinated in the country, with one in every five of the target population fully vaccinated, having attained university education.
It is the high time for the ministry of health to wake up and pull up their socks, start educating the citizens on the importance of taking this jab. And also it the high for my fellow Kenyans go for the jab since it very healthy and have taken mine.
