The Story I Liked

Life is a five-letter sentence that everyone measures with their age. People can experience happiness, unhappiness or extreme hardship. must be maintained. Otherwise, it is possible to fall and get injured.

O’Henry is one of Russia’s favorite American writers, a master of the short form and ironic syllable.  The stories he wrote while in prison (1897-1901) were secretly published under the pseudonym O’Henry. This short story writer, whose real name was William Sidney Porter, in his stories is full of sincere love for the “little man”, nobility and honesty. ‘p has achieved fame.

My favorite of his works is the story “The Last Leaf”. This story tells a moving story about life, hope and the power of art. The story was published in 1907. The story is about a man who lives in a small apartment in Greenwich Village, New York. about two artists, Sue and Jonesy. The girls become close friends and dream many dreams together. But Jonesy is seriously ill. He gets pneumonia. His condition is getting worse day by day. Doctors say that Jonesy has lost interest in life, or depression will take him before the illness.

A vine tree could be seen from the window of the room where he was lying. Due to the change of seasons, the vine began to shed its leaves. Jonesy firmly believed that his life would end when the last leaf fell. Each fallen leaf, Jonesy counting backwards: “twenty-three, twenty-two, twenty-one”. But in reality, it was as if he was counting the seconds of his life, not leaves.

Another character in the story is Baymen, an elderly artist who lives with two friends. he draws a picture of a leaf on the wall. Not knowing that the leaf was drawn, he saw that he was an ordinary leaf and did not lose his hope. He returns. He begins to fight for his life. After painting this work, Beymen dies. Beymen’s last work is a real masterpiece, and he achieves what he hoped for in the last moments of his life. If we conclude from this story, not only balance (that is, not fighting for life), but also a chain that moves it (hope in a person to be able to fight and fight) is necessary for the bicycle of life.
