There is no absolute position in space

Worth Noting:

  • When giving direction we usually talk about the greatest landmark around the feature of our interest whether natural or manmade feature with the former being more preferred. These reference points are important and widely used that is why it is usual to hear people talk about north of, south of, east of and west of.
  • We can talk of East Africa to mean that a location is in the eastern part of Africa but that does not mean that it is the east most part on earth as East Africa is in the west of Asia.

There is no absolute up or down, as Aristotle taught; no absolute position in space; but the position of a body is relative to that of other bodies. Tall and short are used to describe lengths in relative terms for example a forty kilometre road may be said to be short compared to a five hundred kilometres road. The same case applies to a five feet man compared to a six feet man but saying one is short does not rule out that there are other people who are shorter than him for instance a 4.9 feet man is shorter than a 5.0 feet man.

The sun is an average sized star but people while observing it from the earth regard it as a large star compared to all other stars. This is due to its proximity to the earth as it is closer compared to the other stars.

Planet Venus can be seen with naked eyes from earth both during the day and at night. Those who have observed it and taken interest in it have nicknamed it the morning star or evening star. It just appears as a small object in the sky despite its actual surface areas which measures 460.2 million km². At night it is the second brightest natural object seen in the earth’s sky. This is due to its cloud cover reflecting 70% of the sun’s light, making it to appear around 10 times brighter than Sirius which is the brightest star in the sky.

Birds while flying in the air see everything on earth’s surface from the top position with the top looking bigger than the bottom while it comes to worms while in the soil their view is direct opposite that of a flying bird in that they see everything from the bottom and the upper part looks smaller than the bottom.

When your mother is talking to someone about you she will refer you as her child, to her she just sees the baby in you even if you are aged fifty years or more. A talk to your grandmother about your mother she will talk about her daughter she can go ahead and talk of how her daughter is a hardworking or respectful girl. To her she see child in your mother.

Teachers play important roles in shaping the way their students think in regard to certain subjects. They are respected by their students due to masterly of subjects. A talk to the teachers you will hear them talk of how good their teachers were. A talk to the teacher’s teacher you will hear them refer to your teacher as his student rather than a fellow teacher especially if they never taught in during the same period for example one had already ex
