Homeland… This word holds immense meaning within itself. From the moment a person is born, opening their eyes to this bright world, they begin to understand themselves, learn about the world around them, and through this, recognize their homeland. Our people have long had a saying: “The homeland begins at the doorstep.” This proverb emphasizes that our homeland starts from the very home we are born and raised in. First and foremost, we receive upbringing from our parents, grandparents, and relatives, who instill in us a deep respect and love for our homeland from an early age. Later, our teachers at school reinforce this understanding.
Let us be grateful for living in such a peaceful and prosperous homeland, and let us strive to become individuals who contribute to its well-being and serve it in the future. Today, while wars, fires, floods, hunger, and drought afflict various corners of the world, some people sacrifice the interests of others for their own benefit. Now tell me, who wouldn’t be grateful to be a child of such a homeland? Who wouldn’t rejoice in living freely in this country?
There is no poet or writer in the world who has not praised their homeland in poetry or song. Similarly, in our own land, we have poets whose words have become eternally engraved in people’s hearts. One of them, Erkin Vohidov, wrote a beautiful poem about Uzbekistan:
“As I wandered through the valleys,
A strange feeling arose in me…
Clapping my hands, I kissed the blossoming gardens,
And embraced the soil of my homeland.
Listening to stories from the people,
Ideas flourished within the poet.
Singing along with the rivers,
I lent my ear to the legends.
I heard them all, yet…
I could never find another like it.
This unique and beautiful paradise,
A garden written in epics—
It is called Uzbekistan,
And it is spoken of with love.”
At first glance, this may seem like a simple poem, but the brilliance of its words and its deep meaning captivate the heart.
Our esteemed Uzbekistan is one of the most ancient states in history, recognized worldwide. It has given birth to countless scholars, kings, writers, and poets. Take, for example, Amir Temur, Alisher Navoiy, Babur, Khwarizmi, Ulugbek, and many others. Their works are cherished and read in countries all around the world today.
Now, let’s talk about Uzbekistan’s breathtaking landscapes. Every year, millions of tourists and foreign visitors come to explore our history. Khiva, for instance, is home to many historical sites that serve as evidence of our rich past—Ichan Kala, Pahlavon Mahmud’s tomb, and more. Cities like Bukhara and Samarkand are globally renowned. In fact, the “Sharq Taronalari” International Music Festival is held in Samarkand every year, attracting artists from around the world.
The people of this land are exceptionally kind, hospitable, sincere, and humble. The more you converse with them, the more you are drawn to their warmth. Our elders, in particular, are the pride of our nation, sharing their life experiences and hardships from wartime, teaching us the importance of gratitude. They are the guardians of our homes and the protectors of our traditions. That is why our wise ancestors said: “A house with an elder is a house with a blessing.”
Let’s also talk about Uzbekistan’s nature. The sky is clear, the air is fresh, rivers flow with crystal-clear water, and when spring arrives, the environment transforms into lush greenery. In winter, birds like swallows return from warmer lands, building nests in every household and raising their young.
The homeland is the heart of every person, our motherland. If it is at peace, we too are at peace. The tranquility of our homeland is directly linked to the prosperity and security of its people. This topic is not just about national independence and sovereignty but also about the peace and stability in the lives of every citizen. The peace of our homeland is the key to our future, to the future of our children.The peace of our homeland depends, above all, on the respect and love that its citizens have for each other. Each of us must remain loyal to our country, honor its values, and contribute to its development. Every citizen plays a role in maintaining peace. Education, upbringing, and culture play a crucial role in this. By instilling values of peace and tolerance in the younger generation and raising them with a spirit of patriotism, we prepare our future generations for a peaceful and prosperous life.
At the same time, the role of the state in ensuring peace is vital. Our country has strong armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and other institutions to maintain security. However, all these efforts can only be successful with the support of the people. If the citizens do not strive for peace, even the strongest government measures will be ineffective. That is why every citizen must fulfill their civic duty and actively participate in preserving peace.
Gayipnazarova Vazira Khursandbek qizi was born on January 6, 2006, in Yangiariq district, Khorezm region. She is currently a first-year student at the Faculty of Foreign Philology, specializing in Foreign Languages and Literature, at Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan. From a young age, she has been actively participating in various competitions, including being a participant in the “Young Readers” contest. She is the recipient of numerous certificates and diplomas.
