A reknown environmentalist says Kenyans are squarely to blame for the climate change that has led to prolonged drought.
Dr Jack Githae says human activities have made the nature to work against them.
Kenyans, he says have continued to degrade the environment by misusing some natural resources thereby exhausting them with the end result being the drought situation.
Speaking from his Nyeri home in Ruring’u within the outskirts of Nyeri town, Dr Githae, a specialist in traditional medicine said, ” the current drought experienced in the country is due to environmental destruction by people where people have destroyed forests where there are water catchment, water dams destroyed as people are trying to farm everywhere there is water not knowing what they are doing”.
He said that if environment is taken care of, it always rewards the population in many ways adding that the current unpredictable weather patterns is due to uncontrolled human activities which has led to among other things, lack of enough clean water and polluted air.
He urged the government to reintroduce in schools, learning on taking care of the environment as that is the only way to efficiently address climate change.
