Poverty is a disgraceful and unjust condition that has always haunted mankind. It breeds desperation and leads some desperate poor people into wasted lives in some extremes even to crime. The poor present far more than a group that deserves our sympathy and charity. Helping the poor escape from poverty will also help raise the income of the rest of the world. If you give the less privileged in the society the opportunity, you’ll see an effective and long lasting improvement in their lives. You can offer them help in various ways maybe through donations and volunteering. Here for instance a good example of this was seen when steam of 25 Rongo University Students and staff visited Good Samaritan Children Home in Nyamware, Migori town. At the time of the visit there were 76 children (ages 0_19 years) majority being infants. Mr Joel Nakitare who led the team handed over Children Books, foodstuff, Toiletries and Refreshments on behalf of the university fraternity. While at the Home, the Rongo University team shared the belated 2021 Cake with the children and also cleaned the utensils. Thereafter the Home Director Pastor Peter Ouma together with his staff thanked the Rongo University team for the visit and the gifts.
We can also help the less privileged through empowering their families for the future, helping them create sustainable business. Other ways are through provision of necessities, sponsorship programmes. Caring for the needy and helping them in noble endeavor will enable them make a difference in today’s lifestyle. The more you give to the poor and needy people, the more you strengthen their dependency. Let’s all join hands in fighting poverty in the society.
