Norman Mwale [The PenPusher]
I asked him why he always laugh
Upon meeting politicians who jaunt
Around and about in classy cars
When we all walk on smiling shoes.
Father looked into the sky and implored;
“Oh, Heavens! forgive them, they lack wiseness,
They are just like our goosy dog who normally trembles in the cold,
Do you remember on the night l covered
His body with my overnice blanket?
He was greatful and danced his tail in gratification,
Do you remember that very time again, a leaf fell from a tree, with a sharp sound that awakened The dog
Who was quick to leave the blanket and barked
To scare the unkwon to no avail.
On his return he craved for the comfort
But could not manage to get into the
Blanket on his own.
I took the blanket and covered his body for the second time,
He was so grateful once more.
Merely l warned him, next time you leave the blanket
I will just stare at you and get into the house leaving you in the bare cold with no blanket.
Until you realize without me no one can give you The warmth you have been always craving for,” I laughed and implored to the sky!
“Is why l laugh always on meeting politicians!
Who can’t pull the blanket on their own to cover
Themselves, just like our dog, Polly!”
