All along it has been in every man’s mindset that a woman has no leadership opportunity in the society. And with this the only leadership role they would go tor is that of the Women representatives.
Being an international day for all women, it should be noted that women should not only vote but they should also be voted in for they too have their stake in the country. There are too many coalitions and people join these coalitions to form political parties. These most women can join them and vie for different seats.
In 2017 elections, women represented were 47% while men were 53%. It is only 18% of women who contested were elected. This clearly shows that women vieing for leadership are underestimated and not given a chance to talk their views.
Most women face challenges during campaigns due to difference in payments in different political parties. They tend to be paid half the nomination fees which actually aren’t fair.
Therefore in order to achieve a desirable outcome in electing women in leadership positions, we should have more women in the executive committee and more in political seats and with this there would be better democracy.
