The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader  Rigathi Gachagua has told President William Ruto that he cannot stop him from visiting Meru.

Gachagua alleged President Ruto had talked to MPs to try and hire goons to stop him from addressing his supporters in Meru.

Gachagua motorcade had to stop, and his supporters were forced to remove tyres and stones that had been put in an effort  to block the former Deputy President from accessing Meru town.

DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua with for Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi in Meru town yesterday.

The defiant Gachagua addressed a mammoth crowd at Tuskys stage, Gakoromone, and Makutano trading center  where he claimed that it was President Ruto who had sponsored goons through Meru MPs so that they could cut off Gachagua from addressing his supporters.

“I want to tell President William Ruto that he cannot stop me from coming to Meru. My mother comes from the Meru community and I even have land here that I am planning to build a very big mansion so that I can be closer to our people whether President Ruto likes it or not,” he said.

Gachagua went ahead to hit at Ruto claiming that they fell out after he noticed that the President wanted to split Mount Kenya so that the votes can be tamed.

“His aim was to split Kikuyu, Embu and Meru so that they can be apart politically so that he can fight the tyranny of numbers Mount Kenya has,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua was accompanied by former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, the DCP party Organising Secretary who said it is a shame he was being blocked from coming to Meru.

“We are not cowards, we have finally arrived and shame on them even if we now do not have elected MPS. I want to say we do not have a shortage of leaders and in 2027 we are going to have several MPs elected in our party,” Mithika said.

Mithika said they will have a headache of choosing which aspirant to vie for which seat as they have many people wanting to vie with our party.

“We were campaigning for Ruto and Meru emerged number four in voting for President William Ruto but he started ignoring us to an extend of sending us and Gachagua parking so now we are going to send him home to restore our glory,” Mithika said.

He accused President Ruto of collapsing hustler fund, Women Fund and Youth Fund which were well structured but they were collapsed and now his Deputy is going round giving handouts in the name of Empowerment instead,” Mithika said.

Several other leaders from the county and outside accompanied the former Deputy President who is on a three-day visit in the area.
