As the county is approaching electioneering period a section of youths in ODM urged their counterparts’ youths not to be misused by some selfish politicians to cause chaos.
This is after the recent act where a section of youths created a fake account and posted that team Simba Arati , Robert Monda , Richard Onyonka and Doris Aburi alleging that bribed a Kisii bishop the action that raised alarm .
Speaking at Kisii town with the press, ODM youth league president Dennis Mosoti said that youth should act as promoters of peace and unity.
Mr Mosoti said that in most cases, some politicians will take the advantage of the youths sine they are jobless to use them for self-gains.
” Let me plead to my fellow innocent youths political Violence during the electioneering period is a huge threat to the peace and stability of the country , let us try and minimize harm,” he said.
He noted with dismay that many of the turmoil, displacements or destruction of properties witnessed during campaign seasons, are caused by uncaring politicians who use desperate youth, as pawns to achieve their own selfish gains.
He said those youths not to accept small hand- outs from unscrupulous politicians to cause violence or mayhem of whatever nature.
His sentiments were echoed by Ms Yunis Misati said that, this is the time youth are being taken for granted to disrupt public meetings of others.
“Politics will come and go, but the damages caused will still remain with us, she said.
Ms Misati said that youths should stand firm and shun should not use youths to disrupt political rallies of their opponents.
According to her political violence is suspected to be undertaken by youths who are being incited by politicians, who bribe them with a little cash so that they can attack their opponent or disrupt their rally.
She said that every politician has freedom to campaign wherever they want to be and youths should not disrupt ones rally.
“It does not grant one to disrupt ones meeting beaus they don’t support that politician nor do they do not belong to a certain party,” she said.
The youths urged others to choose their leaders wisely more so those leaders with agenda and manifestos.
They noted that they can bring change through voting but not abusing others online nor disrupting others meeting.
However they thanked Azimio coalition movement for party leader Raila Odinga choosing Kisii gubernatorial aspirant Simba Arati and Kisii senatorial aspirant Richard Onyonka for spearheading campaign in Gusii region.
They vowed that they will ensure that Odinga has gunned more votes from Gusii region and become the fifth president of the republic of Kenya.
