I have noticed and observed the attacks and disunity that young people are creating amongst themselves especially on social media. Instead of using it for the right purpose and good will, young people are now using social media as a tool of attacking and fighting each other.
Martin Luther king Jr is reminding us that we must unite now or perish together as fools. For Africa to attain the meaningful and full development that desires, young people must unite now. Young people should realize their role and not forgetting their influence and impact they have in enhancing and ensuring that Africa attains her full desired development.
When we read and look back in our history, we are reminded of the roles and how relevant at that time the young people were to their nations. History tells us that it was Martin Luther king Jr who was at the forefront and spearheaded the civil rights movement in the United States of America.
We are told that it was Kenneth David Kaunda of Zambia together with his comrades the likes of Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe, Mama Julia Chikamoneka, Sikota Wina and the rest of the others that influenced and spearheaded the struggle and the fight for independence in Zambia, then known as Northern Rhodesia.
History is telling us that in Tanzania then called Tanganyika, it was Julius Kambarage Mwalimu Nyerere together with his comrades that spearheaded and influenced the struggle for independence. we are told that it was Kwame Nkrumah and his colleagues who fought for independence in Ghana ,then known as the gold coast. We are told that it was Patrice Emery Lumumba and his colleagues who influenced and spearheaded the struggle for independence in Congo.
These were young men like us, the youths at the time that this was happening. Today am reminding all the young people across Africa to have the spirit of Ubuntu and a sense of belonging and foster the development that Africa desire and must attain.
