The Government is working to improve the working environment of small scale traders for enhanced contribution to wealth creation.

“This is through adjustments of legal, policy, and administrative measures for maximum benefit. To understand the pertinent issues, there must be candid discussions and engagements,” Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said.

The DP made the remarks Thursday, when he had an engagement with small-scale traders from Nairobi as they shared concerns and proposals for removing obstacles for a smooth business environment.

The DP added,

“We prioritize resolving the issues through short term, midterm and long-term measures because it is the Ruto Administration’s commitment to revitalizing all sectors through pragmatic and people-centered sustainable interventions guided by a multiagency approach.

This will be through constant engagements with all stakeholders.”

Notable Parastatal Chiefs who were also present include Micro Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Managing Director/CEO Henry Rithaa, KRA Chairman Anthony Mwaura and the Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga, Anti-Counterfeit Agency Chairman Josephat Kabeabea and CEO Mbugua Njoroge, Kenya Bureau of Standards Managing Director Esther Ngari, Chairman of the National Standards Council Anthony Munyiri, Principal Secretaries Dr Alfred K’Ombudo (Trade) and Susan Mangeni (MSMEs), Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri, Starehe MP Amos Mwago, representatives of traders from across Nairobi County, among others.
