Collaboration Poem from Zimbabwean Poets
Sunflowers are really shy at nighttime
Perculiarly when they go to sleep
Seizing the entire morning rays,
Claim ask the once blush smiles,
As they defer their heads before
The dinky, grim earth,
Venerating to the wishes of the gods
With hope inclined in grieve
They bring much premonition;
How life could be handled effectively
Under the deplorable bright petals,
Hope mazed, hope unredeemable,
As petals bow before the ground,
Nectar bees buzz away in fright.
What so petrifying dessicated flowers,
Drip sweet dew no more,
Flora glory warped, shrivelled,
Prairie expanses moan,
Country fields a desolation where devils roam.
Unremarkably the supplicating flower,
Glowing in her ambience,
Lauding god, ‘Ra’
Deep in her silence,
Her neck she cranes,
Not in grief but in total submission,
To the will of nature.
She coils in grief,
As the sun flies away,
Like a widow whose husband death robbed!
