Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance is under the presidential candidate of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga as the flag bearer. The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance is under pressure of choosing a running mate to their presidential candidate. Due to more pressure the party decided to hold an interview in order to choose their running mate.
The party decided to form a panel of seven members who were to undertake the task of performing the interview which includes Dr. Noah Nekesa as the chairperson of the committee, Paul Mwangi as the legal adviser, Shiel Mohammed, Mrs Beatrice Askul Moe, Bishop Peter Njenga and Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth. The panel was able to submit the names of the people who were to be interviewed in order to choose one deputy president to the presidential candidate.
The eight members that were choose were the National Rainbow Coalition-Kenya (NARC) Party leader Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, Agriculture Secretary Peter Gitirau Nunua, Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho,Machakos Governor Alfred Mutuwa ,Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The panel was able to come up with resolution of the party which was read by Dr.Noah Wekesa who is the chairperson of the committee. As I quote Dr. Noah Wekesa said , “the resolution will consider candidates who are members of constituent party Member of Azimio La Umoja Kenya Alliance, Azimio La Umoja Kenya Alliance that wishes to nominate any person for consideration for the position of deputy president of the coalition to submit the name of the person by latest on Thursday 5th April,2022, the committee will avail opportunities to any candidate to make presentation to the member of the committee, all correspondents to the committee should be made to the secretary at Azimio.ke.”
It was unclear if Kalonzo Musyoka will attend the panel since he believed to be the best running mate to Raila Odinga and he needed no interview. The women at the party of Azimio La Umoja Kenya Alliance voiced out their voices to choose Martha Karua as their running mate in order to promote confidence to women to vie as leaders.
