Wamuchomba Slams Nyahururu Declaration and Criticizes MPs For Neglecting Key Issues

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba, has fiercely criticized the Nyahururu Declaration, where 48 MPs expressed support for Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
In a strong response, Wamuchomba condemned the MPs for what she described as selfish behavior, accusing them of focusing on personalities rather than addressing critical issues affecting the Mount Kenya region.
Chief among these concerns is the alleged diversion of funds meant for the Cherry Fund.
Wamuchomba argued that the MPs’ actions were not in the best interest of Kenyans or their constituents.
“If they were genuinely concerned, they would have discussed why the KSh1.5 billion allocated for the Cherry Fund has been redirected to support cotton and dairy farmers in the Rift Valley, with additional funds being distributed to women’s groups in Northeastern Kenya. Why are coffee farmers being overlooked while money is granted to other beneficiaries, leaving them impoverished and burdened by substantial loans?” she questioned.
She also criticized the MPs for failing to address tangible issues affecting ordinary citizens, such as the injustices faced by Maai Mahiu flood victims who have yet to receive compensation despite previous pledges.
Furthermore, the MPs did not address the recent Hillside Academy fire tragedy, nor did they inquire about the missing pupils. Additionally, the relocation of Marikiti traders, who primarily source vegetables and groceries from the Mount Kenya region, was not discussed.
