O leader bold, with vision clear,
The people’s voice, you chose to hear.
From valleys low to mountains high.
In you, Kenya placed its cry
You rise to lead in times of need,
To plant the truth, to grow the seed.
A nation calls for unity,
For peace, for hope, for purpose, for dignity .
Tribal lines, we must transcend,
For broken walls, you’re here to mend.
For Kenya’s strength is not in part,
But in the beating of one heart.
Elected not by tribe or creed,
But for the vision of our need.
The future calls with every dawn,
And in your hands, new hope is born.
Oh tribal talks kill,
The future crashes in it.
Tears still fresh, of what transpired in the recent year.
Take us out from the fresh memories.
Your works of care, we celebrate,
The paths you’ve paved, the walls you break.
In every town, on every land,
We see your mark, your guiding hand.
So, carry forth this noble call,
And lead with justice for us all.
Be kind, be firm, be ever true,
For Kenya’s heart beats strong with you.
Mr Deputy remember,
the word of our anthem,
Justice be our shield and defender,
In unity we should dwell.
(Evans Asikoyo, the poet)
