Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and her Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru yesterday joined senior Military officers, led by Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri on an official visit to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital (DFMH) in Mbagathi, Nairobi. They were briefed on the hospital’s capacity to serve the medical needs of our military personnel and toured both the facility and the Defence College of Health Sciences, which trains medical professionals for the military. They noted that providing top-quality medical care to the soldiers and their families is top priority and that the ministry is committed to modernizing, equipping, and staffing DFMH and other military health facilities to ensure they can effectively support the soldiers. Army Commander Lieutenant General David Tarus, Director of Medical Services Major General (Dr.) George Ng’ang’a, and DFMH Commandant Brigadier John Khaoya, along with other senior officials, were also present.
Yesterday marked the official launch of the Tea Industry Centenary Celebrations at Kilimo House, led by Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Andrew Karanja. The event was honoured to have Mr. Jacob Kahiu, Chairman of the Tea Board of Kenya, and Chier Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Willy Mutai, along with key industry stakeholders: Mr. George Omuga (CEO, EATTA), Ms. Linda Oluoch (CEO, KTGA), and Mr. Ndiga Kithae from KTDA. Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) yesterday held strategic engagements with Water Service Providers in order to ensure efficiency in water supply management for residents of Nairobi, Kitengela, Mavoko, Ongata Rongai, Utawala and surrounding areas. The collaborations are essential for ensuring the effective distribution of water from the Northern Collector Tunnel and the Karimenu II Dam Bulk Water Systems following licensing from the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB). AWWDA’s partnership with the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) aims to optimize the delivery of 103 million liters of water per day to residents of Nairobi, and further distribute to Mavoko Water and Sewerage Company 5 million liters daily, enhancing water access in the region, including the Athi River Export Processing Zone which is expected to receive 7 million litres daily. The bulk system is also expected to benefit Oloilaiser Water and Sewerage Company with an additional 5 million litres daily serving Ongata Rongai, Kiserian, Ngong and Matasia/Solange areas.
