Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says the illegal grouping has done criminal activities in the past and has been revived, by some government operatives to carry out similar actions.
The former Deputy President appealed to ICC to closely monitor activities in Kenya due to the resurgence of suspected criminal gangs, which he claims are linked to politically motivated abductions and killings of youths ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former Second-in-Command spoke yesterday at the Guardian Angels Tetu Catholic Church in Nyeri Town constituency where he joined area faithful for the first Sunday of the year Mass.

Gachagua alleged that the criminal gang that in the past has been a thorn in the flesh of the mountain region people, has been reactivated by the government machinery to cause mayhem and chaos.
He said the former Kanu regime hired some youths to cause mayhem in the mountain region where the locals underwent untold suffering that included deaths, maiming, extortion and other vices.
He said the lawyers should call on the ICC to investigate those past incidents and relate them with current situation where the current regime is said to have enrolled the same grouping in a bid to force the region residents support the government.
The former DP gave a horrifying example of some of the crimes that the gang have committed saying that in the year 2009, the criminals invaded Gathaithi village in Mathira constituency, at the boundaries of Nyeri and Kirinyaga Counties and butchered 29 people before raping women and commiting other crimes, and it took the intervention of then Minister for Interior the later John Michuki to neutralize their existence.
He added that in the last few days, the gangs are regrouping and they have already started extorting residents of the region with brutal efficiency.
The former DP has also faulted the National Police Service for aiding the existence and the reactivation of the gang instead of protecting Kenyans against the vices including Illicit brew.
He asked President William Ruto to be vigilant and not fall into the prey of the gang as he will be liable for any harm that they will cause.
On the issue of abductions, Gachagua empathized with the families of the abductees, some of whom their bodies were over the weekend dumped in various places after being killed.
He also criticised the government for their continued stand on opposition saying that the young men could not have abducted themselves and later killed themselves.
The former DP was accompanied by his spouse Pastor Dorcas, Nyeri Governor Dr Mutahi Kahiga, former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, dozens of Nyeri County Assembly MCAs led by Majority Leader James Kanyugo as well as the Assembly Speaker James Gichuhi.
