- Tell us more about you

I’m Emily Mukami Kaberia, born and raised in Meru County, the inception of my schooling ain’t that awesome I studied at Cottolengo boarding from nursery to class 4, then moved to Karama Primary School where I did my KCPE and joined Thitha high school where I did my KCSE although results were not mouth and watering but I joined Nairobi institute of Business Studies and pursued Journalism and Media Studies hoping to tell the rich stories of Africa and beyond.
- What motivated you to become who you are now.
I would say my main motivation came from my English teacher Mr Muchemi who used to tell me more about my essays writing how the stories are good and my dad also used to tell me that I am beyond my story telling because of how I started from primary school and he would buy more story books and read together so I bought the idea of becoming a journalist.
- What does your ideal day look like
I would say waking up in the serene environment only with sounds of birds chittering and a cup of coffee reminiscing yesterday’s experience about what I learnt and what’s the day holds ahead.
- What is the favourite aspect of your work.
My favourite aspect is writing articles and sharing knowledge to spark thought and connect with audience through words, in an enterprise setting, I appreciate the collaboration and innovation that come with solving complex problems and driving progress.
- What is the hardest part of what you do
Balancing the demands of professionnel deadlines and Balancing life after college because it’s not easy for one to secure a job in our Kenyan economy easily because sometimes we encounter chances that require money for one to get the opportunity.
- Have you ever incurred in your work. Please tell us about it
Yes I have ,sometimes not everyone who endorses your idea and especially in our line as Journalists and the roles that we all uphold in Media fraternity.
- How do you foster yourself to keep moving
Fostering myself involves breaking long time goals into smaller manageable milestones for each area my life. This helps me to focus and not to be overwhelmed by the work. Establishing a structured routine helps to create time for each chores and ensures that each part has attention using digital apps like planners helps one to be focused and works smart.
Taking breaks also ensures that you’re taking care of yourself to ensure that you’re energetic and thinking about the next step at a time and it helps one to be healthy and productive. Surrounding oneself with supportive family and friends who inspire you appreciate every small step achieved to motivate oneself for next time .
- Do you advertise your work
For my writing skills and enterprise abilities, i use various platforms and strategies. For writing, I share articles on blogs, social media, and professional networks like LinkedIn, Where I can showcase my expertise To a broader audience, contributing To publications has also expanded my reach and credibility. For enterprise skills, I leverage networking events, workshops, and online platforms to demonstrate my problem-solving abilities, leadership,And innovative thinking. Creating a Professional portfolio or case studies highlighting my achievements further establishes my reputation and attracts opportunities.
This proactive approach has significantly boosted my personal and professional growth. Advertising my writing skills has helped me build an audience, gain feedback, and open doors to freelancing. Promoting my enterprise skills has enhanced my visibility in the industry, leading to better job opportunities, partnerships, and mentorship connections. Moreso, sharing my strengths effectively has strengthened my confidence, expanded my network, and reinforced my ability to thrive in all areas.
- My advice to someone who wants to emulate my ability is to balance school, real-life responsibilities and article writing to stay organized, Set clear goals and prioritize time wiely. Multitasking requires structure, so use tools like planners or Digital calendars to map out tasks and deadlines. Break your goals Into smaller, manageable steps to Avoid feeling overwhelmed. It’s also important to be flexible and adapt when unexpected challenges arise, without compromising quality. Don’t forget to make time for self-care and rest to maintain your Energy and mental clarity. Similarly stay passionate and focused on your purpose, because consistency and resilience are key to managing Multiple roles successfully.
