Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was in Mathioya constituency yesterday for the empowerment programme. The DP disclosed that the government is currently implementing a KSh1.2 billion last mile connectivity program to connect an additional 16,000 households to electricity across all constituencies in Muranga County. Further, 23 fresh produce markets are being constructed to empower small scale traders economically as the Government keeps an eye on agriculture to ensure continuous enhancement of prices of tea, coffee, milk, avocados and other agricultural value chains. In the meantime, micro and small scale traders are being empowered through the oncoming National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) and the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) program being rolled out in all the 1,450 wards across Kenya. For maximum impact of Government initiatives, small scale traders and farmers are being encouraged to form cooperatives and SACCOs for better governance and service delivery. The Principal Secretaries for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir and Irrigation Ephantus Kimotho yesterday convened a high-level meeting with the World Bank Task Team Leaders and Ministry Project Coordinating Officers to review the performance of the Ministry’s World Bank-supported portfolio.
The meeting focused on identifying and addressing key bottlenecks hindering project implementation, while developing a robust framework for improved coordination among all stakeholders including the National Treasury, County Governments, the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, and the World Bank. This strategic engagement marks an important step toward accelerating project execution, optimizing impact, and ensuring that communities across the country benefit fully from ongoing and planned investments in the water and irrigation sectors.

President William Ruto hosted a delegation from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, led by its founder, former Britain Prime Minister Mr. Tony Blair. The president recognized and appreciated the collaboration between Kenya and the Institute, particularly in agriculture and ICT. The partnership aims to enhance food security and improve government efficiency through the strategic use of technology. Principal Secretary for Agriculture Dr Paul Ronoh, among other officials accompanied the president during the Monday’s consultative meeting at State House, Nairobi.

The Deputy Director DCI, Mr. John Onyango on Monday officially inaugurated the second cohort of the Senior Investigations Officers’ Seminar at the National Criminal Investigation Academy (NCIA).The event brought together 40 senior officers from various DCI units for a program aimed at enhancing their investigative expertise. Mr. Onyango who represented the DCI Director emphasised the seminar’s role in equipping participants with cutting-edge tools and insights to navigate the complexities of modern law enforcement and urged the officers to seize the opportunity to challenge conventional approaches, share experiences, and develop collaborative solutions to strengthen their leadership and investigative capabilities. The ceremony was also attended by other distinguished senior officers, including NCIA Commandant Mr. Sospeter Munyi, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Unit Mr. Samuel Laboso, and Deputy Director of Training Mr. Adan Guyo.
