Many youths are suffering slowly from a disease called depression. Some open up and get solutions to their problems as the saying goes; a problem shared is half solved. However, many youths don’t want to open up because they fear judgement and rejection.
A major cause of depression among youths is broken and unhealthy relationships with their loved ones. Many youths are either in premature or unhealthy relationships which deprives them peace and sanity. You meet a young person and he/she appears confused and dejected. Many ends up killing their spouses and committing suicide.
Another cause of depression among youths is lack of basic facilities. Every youth wants to have access to basic facilities like telephone, better health opportunity and electricity. They desire to have these facilities at any costs, thus becomes depressed when they fail to acquire them.
They are persuaded by peers to use wrong channels like crimes, robbery, theft and selling of drugs just to have access to modern facilities. Some suffers from broken families and improper sanitation. Have no good relationship with others hence bitter with everyone they come across.
Absence of parents is chaotic for children; this makes them to become emotionally disturbed and learns antisocial activities like smoking and drinking alcohol. At a point, they may also lack basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing which are vital for any human being.
This makes them to develop a negative attitude towards life and ends up being depressed. These youths needs counseling and mentorship programs to make them accept their situations in a position manner.
