The world is celebrating Mother Earth Day

Worth Noting:
- Massive tree cutting affects flow of water and this has implications like death of livestock. Human beings are the biggest enemies and saviours to Mother Earth. To combat climate change, let’s avoid burning coal in open and excessive use of manufactured fertilizer. As much as we aim to get high yields, consider the organic manure that is environmental friendly.
- We have frequently heard reports about extinction of certain species of animals and birds. We have a greater role to play in order to ensure we avoid losing the few remaining species. The government, non-governmental organizations and activist have always advocated for a better stay on this planet by protecting the environment.
Today on 22nd April 2022, the world is celebrating Mother Earth Day. This is an inception of the General Assembly back in 1970 on a day of education about the environment. Such is a critical day as it reminds us of the importance of our surroundings in matters our health on the universe. The earth is called mother in this context to insinuate, our wellbeing depends on this planet.
It is all about acknowledging climate change and speak awareness about the same across the world. This year’s 2022 theme is “Invest In Our Planet”. We are all called upon to embrace the theme and act in relation to the three pillars highlighted. We should act boldly, innovate in broad way and implement equitably. It is our responsibility to take care of it, since it provides us with water and food. These are essential for our survival. Besides, the earth is the mother to all living organisms.
The idea of mother earth reflects the interdependence between human beings, other living creatures and the planet we inhibit. The healthier our ecosystem, the healthier is our planet.Β For some reasons, including pollution of our environment, we are experiencing low life expectancy. We should live the slogan “Go green, breathe again”.
Being environmental conscious leads to end in poverty. For a while, food production has gone down due to a change in the weather patterns. Climate change is as a result of air pollution that affects the normal system. If we could realize this, we could also have taken a step to protect our water catchment sources. This can be through planting more trees.

We can all join the forces and champion for a safe stay on earth without having doubts of the future. Create awareness on social media, in the newspaper and let everyone take the initiative of bettering themselves and the environs.
We can volunteer for community clean ups to avoid littering every corner. We need to observe our shopping culture where we need to avoid plastics especially. These can’t rot and when burned pollute the air. Reduce; reuse and recycle should be normalized to reduce what’s thrown on the soils. It is a personal and at the same time corporate responsibility. Such environmental challenges like water and pollution, waste disposals, global warming and acidic rain can only be dealt with by humans. By taking care of Mother Nature, we are nurturing future generations.
