The Kenya Education Fund (KEF) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing equitable access to education across the country, revealing that more than 3,700 students applied for scholarships this year — a figure that powerfully underscores both the demand for and the transformative potential of education support.

However, despite this surge of ambition, fewer than 200 students received scholarships last year, highlighting the critical funding gap that continues to hinder the dreams of many bright but underprivileged learners. The Fund, established to empower youth through secondary and tertiary education, is now appealing for greater public and partner involvement to help bridge this disparity.

KEF Executive Director, Dominic Muasya, expressed optimism that the organization will welcome its largest scholarship class yet in 2026. He urged individuals and institutions to take part in the initiative by sponsoring a student at a cost of $1,250 per year for four years, emphasizing that such an investment could alter the trajectory of an entire family and community.

“Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and shape the future,” said Muasya, adding that as the world moves deeper into the digital era and artificial intelligence reshapes industries, education remains the greatest equalizer.

The Fund has also strengthened its international partnerships, with Muasya recently completing a successful mission to the United States. His visit included meetings with donors and partner organizations in New York and Washington, D.C., where the team, led by Board President Allison Schlanger, hosted a series of events that expanded KEF’s global network.

In New York, a vibrant soirée introduced a new generation of supporters to KEF’s mission, while in Washington, long-standing friends and benefactors gathered at The Swahili Village for a program coordinated by Curtis Rooney, Anne Evans, and Ricki Kanter.

“Your continued generosity is not only keeping children in school but nurturing Kenya’s next generation of innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers,” Muasya noted in his address to partners.

The Kenya Education Fund continues to embody the spirit of transformation through education  ensuring that no child with potential is left behind, and that every scholarship becomes a stepping stone toward a brighter, more equitable future for Kenya.
