Deputy President Kithure Kindiki yesterday met 10 aspirants seeking the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election following the death of David Kiaraho. He urged the candidates to consider consensus where possible, while assuring them of a free, fair and verifiable nominations process. Kindiki emphasized UDA’s commitment to transparency and credible internal democracy, noting the party would uphold these standards during the exercise. The meeting was also attended by party officials including Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Secretary General Hassan Omar, Elections Board Chair Anthony Mwaura, and ICT and Elections Director Brian Higgins Mbugua.

The Kenya National Highways Authority Upper Eastern Region team, led by Engineer Andrew Mesuy, in collaboration with the Materials Testing and Research Division (MTRD) Road Safety Section headed by Paul Ekai, has carried out trial road marking works along the Chiakariga–Meru (B65) Road. The exercise aims to improve lane visibility and enhance safety for motorists. To ensure compliance with standards, the team conducted reflectivity tests using a retroreflectometer and performed night-time inspections to confirm visibility levels. The initiative seeks to guarantee durable markings that support safe driving under both day and night conditions.

Francis Thoya joined leaders from Compassion International during a ceremony in Mombasa where the CORA Award was presented in recognition of church-led efforts to fight poverty and empower communities in the Coast region. The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has been on a fact-finding mission in Nyanza region amid growing concern over rising mental health challenges among officers. The delegation, led by NPSC chairman Amani Yuda Komora, paid a courtesy call at the office of the Nyanza Regional Commissioner Flora Mworoa before embarking on their mission. The visit was part of a familiarization exercise aimed at assessing working conditions and understanding challenges facing officers in the area. The tour follows amendments to the National Police Service Commission Act signed by President William Ruto in November 2025, which strengthened provisions for psychosocial support and counselling services within the police service.
Dr. Komora said the Commission was responding to alarming reports from commanders indicating that a significant number of officers are grappling with mental health issues.
