Former Deputy President and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has pledged free and fair party nominations in Nairobi, saying the capital needs urgent leadership to reverse years of decline.
Speaking yesterday at his Wamunyoro residence after meeting DCP MCA aspirants, grassroots leaders and Nairobi MPs James Gakuya and Mejja Donk Gathiru, Gachagua said the party would issue tickets based on the will of members rather than political influence.
He urged aspirants to intensify grassroots mobilisation and embrace the party’s philosophy of listening to the people.
Gachagua described Nairobi as an international city that should project Kenya’s image but lamented that it has become synonymous with crime, poor sanitation, traffic congestion, weak urban planning and inadequate public services.
He assured party supporters that DCP was determined to “get Nairobi back on track” ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting is part of Gachagua’s ongoing consultations at his Wamunyoro home, where he has been hosting delegations from across the country as he seeks to strengthen the opposition and build the DCP’s grassroots structures in preparation for the next polls.
