It’s for a long time the issue of gender inequality has been an issue to most parts of our country. Women rights have been forgotten where they have been treated like persons who aren’t supposed to exist.
Relating with the case of Diana Chepkemoi who has gone to Saudi Arabia for employment, it brought a clear picture of how women’s rights has been not put into considerations. It doesn’t mean that because one is working as a house help should be treated as no one’s business. Gender equality has to be practiced and let everyone enjoy living.
How Kenyan ladies has been mistreated more so when they go to work abroad gives a voice to all of us of how we should treat one another.
In our cultures we find that many lives in the eras of past. A girl can be forced to many when at 14 years age. Many are still in the process of their growth and should be exposed to much happenings before they marry. It has kept many in carcoons of having no says since they are not treated equally. It’s a higher time women and girls to achieve gender equality and be empowered.
In our country a slight improvement is seen whereby we see women on the national leadership. This should motivate us to work with women and girls who are capable. The notion of “only men can be regarded” should be abolished. Women rights are also crucial.
