It’s still a great concern with the increasing immoral behaviours among teenagers aged 10-19 years despite the fact that measures and educative strategies that have been reinforced to deplete these attributed concernment on poverty,work opportunities and education.Considerably this group accessing services, poverty and majorly lack of proper parental guidance has impacted this increase.Especially when you find a daughter wearing an extreme short skirt in front of a parent undoes the moral values.
It is a persuasive concern that HIV and pregnancy among teenagers is a threat of action.Different counties have been incorporated majorly on the risk increase of these incidences that’s; Nairobi,Narok,Mandera,Kisii,Meru,Bomet and Kericho which count 56% of all teen pregnancies among adolescents of 10-14 years age.This actually symbolizes a clear evidence of unprotected sex among the adolescents.Unluckly Kenya ranked the 3rd highest worldwide in teenage pregnancies.
As HIV/AIDS remain a public health threat for the young people and adolescents,the Ministry of Health gave current statistics that for the last one year,in every week 98 HIV new infections were recorded.More than 1.43 million Kenyans live with the virus.The Ministry also stated that these are brought about by Triple threat through gender sexual violence and adolescent pregnancies where one in every five adolescent women are mothers of first child or pregnancy between age 15-19 as by PS Health Susan Mochache.
On the information that more than 1.43 million people live with HIV, 2.9% are for males and 5.5% to females and about 78 465 are children of age 0-4 years.Consequently profound attention to girls calls ,in which of the 12,000 women delivered every month,10% are mothers between years 10-19.Also noted that 50% of teenage pregnant mothers were HIV infected,where 317,000 pregnancies in 2017, about 67,000 of them were adolescent pregnancies where most were girls of 10- 19 years.
National Aids Control Council (NACC) and the Ministry of Health reports that there is exponential rise in HIV and teen pregnancy cases.Due to that thirteen counties accounted for 72% of the new infections and 53% of teens were under gender based sexually violence.With significance of awareness the NACC has mandated a countrywide campaign to end the unfortunate ‘Triple Threat’ concerned among the young people and adolescents.
