Time passed and they moved on
Moved on from the pain it had caused
Moved on from the people it had claimed
Moved on from the families that were displaced
Did anyone care anymore?
Days turned to months, and they hoped for peace
Disasters struck elsewhere, and they faded from memory
Mother nature was cruel, they thought,
As they watched the world turn a blind eye.
Sympathy was a fleeting visitor,
Justice and empathy became distant dreams.
Maybe it’s time to rise again,
To claim the climate justice that had orphaned them,
To demand a voice in the silence that followed their cries.
