Biashara Sacco has started plans of establishing an ultra-modern office block that will serve as its headquarters.
The Sacco is setting up an 8 -storey complex in the heart of Nyeri town, along Kimathi Street that will be erected in two phases.
During the ground breaking ceremony yesterday, the Sacco chairman Joseph K. Njamuku disclosed that the first phase will cost the institution Sh143 million and will take about one year to be completed.
The chairman said the Sacco which has 17 branches and Satellite centres in nine counties across the country had an asset base of over Sh2.8 billion as at December last year with a loan portfolio of about Sh2.2 billion.
Further, the chairman disclosed that they have over 360 banking agencies and was planning to open online banking services to Kenyans in diaspora before the end of the year.
The counties where the Sacco which was established in 2006 is currently operational are Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Nairobi, Kajiado and Nakuru.
The Sacco with 248 members of staffs and 224,512 Associate Members is planning to grow its asset base to five billion.
Bishop Dr. Paul Wanjohi of New Life Church led in dedicating the project to God during the ceremony that was attended by institution’s directors, senior staff and a number of customers.
