CALL FOR UNITY IN DIVERSITY AS CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL BEGIN LENT PERIOD
Catholics Kick started the lent.

Catholics across the country Kick-started the lent period with the commemoration of Ash Wednesday which is meant to identify them with Christ in the journey that Himself underwent and endured in forty days before he started his ministry.
This year’s theme among the Catholics faithful to themselves and to the larger Kenyan population is the call of reflection on the country’s journey towards this year general election by calling on the citizens to maintain the face of humanity, peace and unity despite of differences in ethnicity, race, social status and religion.
The church remains an instrumental entity in our nation that it tasks itself to guide the nation and its people on importance of showing humane face in times of politics where civilians tend to loose the humanity part when in time of politics.
The intensified calls from the church not only touches the teaching of Christ but also reminds the nation how politics has backtrack our unity owing to the election violence as a nation witnesses each snd every election period notably the dark spot of 2007 post-election violence.
With the recent on slaughter of the church by notable figures, in which last week the president attacked men in white during his Sagana lll meeting in which he backlashed the church for receiving corrupt money.
In his attack to his deputy president who has been seen contributing huge amount of donations to the churches across the country, the president blatantly said the money his deputy was donating was money that was stolen from the public coffers that were meant for development of the nation. However the church has remained mum about the statement.
The church should take central position in matters that can bring public misjudgement especially during this election period in order for the flock to keep faith in their words.
The lent period among the catholic congregation calls upon them as Christians to reflect the journey of Christ and sacrifices towards humanity by fasting, praying and emulating through serving humanity.
