The 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) in Azerbaijan Baku beckons, yet accredited Global South climate activists face logistical nightmares, silencing their critical voices. Despite accreditation, financial constraints suffocate their participation. Who will rescue these vital stakeholders?
Global South activists bear the brunt of climate change, yet struggle to attend pivotal conferences. Accreditation proves hollow without logistical support. Their absence undermines inclusive decision-making, perpetuating climate injustice.
There quite a number of factors exacerbating Global South exclusion which are not limited to Financial constraints fact being that Global south countries are poor or should I call them developing countries and are heavily buried in debts, Limited sponsorship from sustainable Global North countries as well as Inadequate representation
This comes with Consequences in the long run such as Silenced voices,Inequitable climate policies and there is a possibility of deepened vulnerability
Climate Transformation Network (CTN )urges governments to Provide emergency funding for climate activists and also urges international Organizations to always Offer sponsorship/grants not forgetting Climate organizations to always give Collaborative support.
Climate justice demands solidarity. Global South activists’ voices shape climate decisions affecting their communities. Abandonment exacerbates vulnerability; collective action fuels transformative change.
