Shujaa Hanna Wanjikú Múrogo

A group of senior citizens who actively took part in the fight for independence have raised their concern for recognition and their plight to be addressed.
Most of these senior citizens are in their nineties and others are centenarians.
In a meeting at Kariobangi North in Nairobi, the senior citizens urged the government to consider them urging that most of their grievances are usually handled casually.
Led by Shujaa Hanna Wanjikú Múrogo who has received at least three distinguished awards, they narrated the agony, anguish, torture, inhuman and degrading treatment they had to endure under the oppressive and heartless colonial government that rendered some of them childless after undergoing the worst form of torture.
To add salt to the injury, most of them lost their land to home guards who were infamously referred to as kamatimû who collaborated with the British government to oppress the freedom fighters.
Their request to President William Ruto is this:
- To be given a piece of land for their relentless effort that birthed Kenya’s independence
- To be given NHIF cards free of charge
- To be considered under the Inua Jamii program
- To be accorded a direct audience with President Ruto.
In conclusion they voiced their concern for being locked out of the recent visit by the British Monarchy and being denied audience.
